A Personal Update

Asheville and most of WNC among other southeastern states has recently experienced a devastating (and unheard of) hurricane. My family, our home, and my studio are safe. You can read the longer update here.

We are still awaiting all utilities to be restored and for cell reception to improve. And, until schools and childcare centers can reopen, my full time job will be a stay at home mom to our daughter. My business is still operating but until these needs are met, my availability will be very limited. I kindly ask for your patience in all communications and shipping timelines for anything purchased from my shop.

I will be donating 20% of profits from purchased originals and art prints to the River Arts District Artist Foundation to assist artists devastated by Hurricane Helene, while portions of my other offerings will go to BeLoved Asheville who provide critical resources across the area.

Unfortunately, most within the region were not as fortunate. Homes, businesses, and loved ones were literally washed away. Entire towns and districts are either unrecognizable or entirely gone. I am relieved to report that everyone I personally know in the area — including clients, collaborators, vendors, and colleagues — are safe as well. But my heart aches for this beloved community and the small businesses, artists, hospitality industry, and farmers who fuel it.

While my own family and plenty others have physically survived this catastrophe, we all still depend on a steady flow of revenue to support our own families and to put money back into our own economy. With the holiday gift season gearing up, I encourage you to shop from small businesses, entrepreneurs, artists, makers, and farmers within WNC and other affected regions. Many have online shops with current inventory or made-to-order options, gift cards that can be used later when physical stores reopen, and custom or commissioned services available. And plenty — especially those who lost their studios, physical shops, facilities, and inventories — have a GoFundMe page.
